Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the attack made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
