Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued four early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
