The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Transition Comes After Mixed Reception
The new appointee assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster early showing last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer updated team members about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had indicated the necessity for a more defined direction.
The president expressed that the team is now reimagining the project with a renewed approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Acquisitions
The news follows a similar move taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.
Below is the entire text from Ismailer's announcement:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a update, I stated the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most driven and talented designers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re looking forward for that collaboration to endure.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It validated the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the necessity for a sharper vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the criticism to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed goal - one that’s poised to achieve its potential to our audience.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To advance the incredible progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. Following several months of talks, he officially joins us on the specified date.
Ben’s management and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is vast, having dedicated the past decade and a half creating and managing some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.
Please join me in welcoming him soon. We are all excited to persist seeing the development of Project ETHOS in the months to follow.
The President
